Issue: July 2019 (#13)

This year we are celebrating a big anniversary in automobile history – 80 years ago the first automatic transmission was installed on an Oldsmobile vehicle. That is how a new industry was born, that our magazine is devoted to. Incidentally, you can celebrate it for several months running: the first orders for 1940 vehicles had been placed since May 1939, and the deliveries to the customers began in October.

This year we are also marking a few other more or less round anniversaries. LBM Auto Parts, a Swedish company that we are going to tell you about in this issue, belongs to the STS group, the history of which started 50 ago with the opening of a Swedish branch of the American company Borg Warner.

The Portrait of a company column this time is devoted to “Cansy Transmission”, a Novosibirsk company established 20 years ago.

“AutoTransTech” seminars have been organized for 15 years, which is another anniversary to mark – and in this issue we are going to tell you about the first seminar of this year, which took place in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague.

In the Business techniques column of this issue we are giving an overview of valve body testers. We have talked to the manufacturers, as well as companies that have been using testers of different brands. Perhaps, you would like to express an opinion too? We are looking forward to your comments!
